Adult Basic Education Classes CEP is a member of the Juntos Collaborative, a network of ABE service and work force development providers. CEP provides a variety of adult and family educational opportunities in the diverse Holyoke community. We began in 1991 as an ESL program based in the Latino community. Today our educational programming includes: Native Language Literacy in Spanish English for Speakers of other Languages (ESOL): two levels Pre-GED-Family Literacy in English The CEP Pre-GED Family Literacy class is a collaboration between CEP, Holyoke Public Schools-Pathways to Family Success, and the Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children (MSPCC). The Pathways to Family Success collaboration has placed the Pre-GED class as part of the MSPCC Parent Center. This family literacy program provides an evening Pre-GED class in English for parents, activities for their children, and a family style meal. Homework help and age appropriate activities are provided for children of parents enrolled in the Pre-GED class. In addition to preparing adult learners to take the GED exam, the program stresses the importance of parents engaging with their children’s development and education from an early age.
